Micah Burkhardt

Micah Burkhardt (b. 1995; Cincinnati, OH) is a young composer in his third year at the University of Louisville. Micah’s compositions are significantly influenced by his experience as a horn player. He has studied horn with Jonas Thoms (Wright State University), and Tom Sherwood (Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra). Currently, he is studying horn with Bruce Heim at the University of Louisville. Micah studies music composition under Steve Rouse. Recently his piece "Shards of Us" was named a finalist in the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards. Also, his “Felt Stars on Nylon Strings” was premiered by the Talea Ensemble in 2016. This Fall, he will be studying composition at the Krakow Academy of Music in Poland. Micah is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in composition.
